The Matriarch

Tamara Smith-Thomas is the founder of Theta Alpha Mu Military Sorority, Inc. She created a supportive and empowering sisterhood that fosters personal growth, lifelong friendships, and active community involvement. She based the sorority's values on emphasizing loyalty, honor, and empowerment, creating a strong bond among women who understand military life's unique challenges and triumphs. 

Currently, Tamara is a Human Resources Specialist (Position Management) at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Tamara’s education includes a Master’s in Human Services with a concentration in Criminal Justice and Counseling, a Certificate in Military Resilience, a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, a Pharmacy Technician Certificate, and I am currently working on Hospitality Management. 

Tamara has over a decade of sorority experience as a member of Sigma Gamma Rho, Sorority, Inc., and as a United States Army retiree. She lives in Virginia with her husband, two children, a bonus daughter, and her 14-year-old puppy (RIP).
